How the estimate works
This is an additive planning model built on published 2026 US ranges. It is not a bid, it is not a quote, and it does not know your house.
The formula
Hardware + base labor, then extras stack on top. We total the low ends and the high ends separately, round to the nearest $50, and place "typical" inside the band rather than pretending we know a single number.

The panel upgrade is added as a required line only when you tell us the panel is 100A or "definitely full." If it's "pretty full" or unknown, we show it as an optional high-case line so your low end stays honest. An unknown panel widens the range on purpose.
Regional adjustment
We do not have a live labor-rate feed and we will not pretend otherwise. For a short list of high cost-of-living metros where we operate — Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, Irvine, Seattle, New York, and Washington DC — we push the labor band roughly 15–25% toward the high end. Everywhere else uses national bands.
Published reference points
These are other publishers' numbers, cited for comparison. They are not our data and we do not claim any proprietary install dataset.
- Qmerit: typical installs around $749–$2,500, with an average near $1,700.
- EnergySage (Qmerit-based): labor often $800–$3,000 before equipment; they have published a US average around $2,442 excluding equipment.
- Angi / HomeAdvisor: job panels sit lower, roughly $550–$1,380, because they skew toward simpler jobs.
How we pick where to send you
Your ZIP maps to a US city. If we have a dedicated installation site for that city, you go there. If we don't, you go to our nationwide desk at EV Electrical. We never invent a "nearest city" — Irvine is not Los Angeles, and Dallas is not Plano.
This is not a bid
Final price requires a licensed electrician, a load calculation, and a permit in your city. Two houses on the same street can differ by thousands.
